MIAC
Arrecife’s Castillo de San José is an unexpected place to see works by many important Spanish artists, like Antoni Tàpies and Joan Miró. A fortress built in the 18th century, it now houses the Museo Internacional de Arte Contemporáneo (MIAC). Beneath the museum is a tapas restaurant designed by artist César Manrique. Another fortress, the 16th-century Castillo de San Gabriel, once protected the city's port and is today a museum on local history with wonderful views of the city and coast.
