Before there was Whole Foods, there was Metropolitan Market in Seattle, Washington. It's the place where I can always find more than three brands of kombucha tea, organic yogurt from all around the world, and a great selection of microbrews and fine wines. There is also a huge section for natural cosmetics, supplements, and kitchenware.
It's a popular place for the neighborhood, located in the hip Uptown/Lower Queen Anne district of Seattle. The Space Needle, Ballet, theaters, and Key Arena are just across the street from Metro Market (what the locals call it).
During the lunch rush the competent staff behind the deli counters and cash registers get you in and out of the store with all your favorite food and beverage items. Even with the mad dash to the prepared fresh food from noon to 2pm, I've never seen the fridge empty or in disarray. Around 4pm Metropolitan Market switches gears, offering various food and wine tastings. I once wandered into a huge educational presentation on cheeses all for free. Score!
Good work, Metro Market. You keep this client happy and your store fun to shop.
