An Artistic Journey
Most people travel around by Tram in
Amsterdam as it's the easiest way to "hop on, hop off." But the Metro trains are a feast for the eyes. Not only do they make the train cars wide enough for locals to fit their bikes (really, the BEST way to get from A-to-B in 'Dam) but the inside walls of several train cars are covered in artwork. Back in 2008, in an effort to revitalise the 30-year-old system, the GVB collaborated with the Amsterdam Fund for the Arts to work with Dutch artists on covering the trains. From a safari-meets-fairy animal kingdom to guitars floating in space and fish in the ocean, you'll feel as if you're riding in an exhibit rather than an advertisement.
