We arrived to the small town of Mestia in the Republic of Georgia by a small charter plane in June 2011. Getting to Georgia is a feat: a country nestled between Russia and Turkey, getting to Mestia was even tougher. A secluded mountain town detached from most of Georgia, Mestia was filled with unthinkable beauty. Ancient Svan towers, untouched snow-capped peaks reaching over 15,000 feet, a language and a variety of spices only found in that specific region in a specific country. Here it seemed like everything and anything could roam free.
