Il Melograno is a pizzeria and gelateria right next to Rome's Trevi Fountain—literally in Piazza di Trevi. Given its location, you'd be forgiven for anticipating something crowded, overpriced, and low quality. Only one of these things is true. Il Melograno is crowded, but the lines are managed well and the service quick. And while prices are not so cheap as you may find elsewhere in town, they are hardly exorbitant, especially given the prime real estate. But the surprising thing is that the pizza really is good. Sold by the generously sized slice, there's a topping for every taste—whether classic or adventurous, meat-heavy or veg-only. Scarf it down inside (this is not a place to linger) and then hit the streets again.
