Meatpacking District and Gansevoort Market
While there are still a few processing warehouses that nod to the name of this historic west-side district, what mostly gets packed here these days are the swanky nightclubs that punctuate its cobblestone streets. After-dark crowds notwithstanding, the neighborhood is also lively during the day, with chic shops, restaurants and cafés—although some of the best dining can be found beyond the rolling garage-style doors of the Gansevoort Market—an eclectic food hall serving up everything from meatball sandwiches to tacos to gelato.
