A Culture Scene Blooms in South Texas
Hosted in some of McAllen’s oldest neighborhoods, the McAllen Art Walk, held the first Friday of every month (Sept. to May), attracts art aficionados that might otherwise be unaware of the South Texas city’s flourishing culture scene. The self-guided tour takes travelers from places like the Nuevo Santander Gallery, featuring Old West and Mexican antiques, to artist Douglas Clark’s eponymous sculpture studio, which house his bronze works that have also appeared on college campuses and in city parks. There’s also McAllen’s Stained Glass, where travelers can view intricate cut-glass works and take beginner classes.
