The bars I like are either great visual experiences, great memories, or have great people. Oh, and they should have good things to drink. Try a pint of Mac and Jack here. McGilvra’s has a nice view of Lake Washington, and great memories of wonderful people. This Irish Pub was named for Judge John J. McGilvra who founded the city of Seattle in the 1850’s. He was the area’s first developer, purchased land, and cut a road running in a straight line through the forest from downtown Seattle to Madison Park. That is the same Madison as President James Madsion. Today his road is known as Madison Street and it is the only direct road from the saltwater of the sound to the fresh water of Lake Washington. The view of Lake Washington is nice, as is the ability to kayak to and from the bar. There is a nice little shopping area around the bar, too.
