Mayan Cooking Class

Mayan Cooking Class
Recognizing the rich heritage of their region, Riviera Maya chefs have embraced cooking classes as an opportunity to share traditional Mayan ingredients and recipes with eager-to-learn visitors. The many available options range from half-day to full-day experiences and include Rivera's Kitchen Tulum and Co.Cos Culinary School & Catering in Playa del Carmen. Another consistently high-ranked favorite is The Little Mexican Cooking School, located in Puerto Morelos and taught by Chef Cristobal Tamaríz. Chef Tamaríz shares history and culture in addition to cooking techniques in his daylong classes. Aprons, recipe booklets, lunch, and drinks are included. His Mayan cooking courses cover regional specialties, such as camarones tikin xic (shrimp wrapped in a banana leaf with achiote seasoning), and Mayan-style grilled fish. Prefer a street food tour? Chef Tamaríz offers those, too.
