Classic Southern Fare in Atlanta's Dining Room
If you ask anyone who as ever visited Atlanta where you should eat, they'll almost certainly say Mary Mac's Tea Room. While it is a favorite of tourists, and celebrities for that matter, it's also a classic Atlanta eatery where locals enjoy special events. The space itself is sprawling, covering dozens of rooms and feeling much like a tea room, although the only tea you'll be drinking is sweet and cold. Speaking of the menu, it's remained relatively unchanged since Mary Mac's opened in 1945. The portions are hearty, so be sure to get a mix of items to share, including the fried chicken, fried green tomatoes and Georgia peach cobbler to finish it all off. Don't be alarmed when goodwill ambassador Jo Carter comes by to rub your shoulders. It's all a part of the experience. The restaurant is open daily from 11 am to 9 pm.
