Jazz and Haiti – on the surface, they'd appear to make a strange pair. As I've learned on my numerous travels to Haiti in recent years, though, this is one Caribbean country that's full of surprises. The jazziest of them all: Jazz Nights at the Marriott Port-au-Prince. The weekly fete goes down every Friday from 7pm to 10pm within the hotel's Great Room just off the main lobby. The heady night of music and celebration features the musical stylings of Gerald Kebreau and Friends playing a mix of standards and updated compositions with Haitian influences sprinkled throughout. In Port-au-Prince, there's no better place to kick back with a nice glass of wine, whiskey, or rhum and ease into the weekend.
