The Port-au-Prince edition of Le Burger Week, the international food festival designed to highlight the very best beef-'n-bun creations in select cities around the world, wrapped up recently, yielding a wide array of inventive and super-tasty treats. Tops among them to me, La Montagne.
The brainchild burger of the master chefs at The Marriott Port-au-Prince, La Montagne (the mountain) lives up to its name, with ingredients piled high. The name is also a nod to Haiti itself, a country renowned for its dramatic, mountainous landscape.
The distinctly Haitian aspects of La Montagne extend to its ingredients as well. It's stuffed with local Haitian cheese, a sharp cave-aged cheddar unique to Haiti, caramelized onions, sautéed mushrooms and watercress drizzled with a homemade avocado BBQ sauce.
Served with lettuce, tomato, spicy Haitian Pikliz, and a side of fries, this gourmet delight takes the Cheeseburger in Paradise to a whole new level.
