Be picky when in comes to buying pastries and other dainty desserts in Venice. Marchini Time is a small pastry shop in San Marco that is rammed with locals stopping by for a quick coffee and croissant at breakfast. It's also nice to come here for an aperitivo; they make a mean negroni, and the atmosphere is warm and jolly.
One of their specialties is pizzette, tiny bite-size pizza margaritas that, made well, should be golden and crispy, airy disks with a dollop of marinara and a sprinkling of melted cheese. All of their almond-based and pistachio flavored cookies are good, as are their mini custard tarts.
