Raglan Surf Breaks
Raglan Surf Breaks
Raglan, known as Whaingaroa ("the long pursuit") in Maori, is best known for the sweeping left-hand break at Manu Bay, reputedly the longest anywhere in the world. Life here ebbs and flows with the ocean. Consistent conditions draw surfers from around the world to capture a perfect ride at Manu Bay and the other main breaks; Whale Bay, Indicators and Vortex Bay, and if they happen to be flat there will always be Ruapuke. If you've never surfed before, several surf schools run lessons on Ngarunui (Ocean) Beach throughout the year, perfect for first-timers.
