Sublime Inverness retreat + fireside supper
If ever there were a perfect weekend retreat, Manka's Inverness Lodge would be it. My husband and I have traveled here on two magical occasions to celebrate anniversaries and special life events, and it is always sublime. Though the main lodge burned down a few years ago and has yet to be rebuilt, their cozy lodge cabins remain intact. You check in in their gloriously restored airstream trailer, and then enter a beautiful woodsman-inspired cabin. We have stayed in the room that has a wood-fired hot tub outside, a true gift. One of our favorite parts of staying at Manka's: the fireside supper, brought to your room to be enjoyed with a loved one by a burning fire. Their food is impeccable. In the morning, enjoy hot coffee, housemade coffee bread, and the New York Times delivered to your door. Then enjoy some of the amazing nearby hiking in Point Reyes. It is one of my favorite escapes in the world.
