While riding across the Manhattan Bridge between Manhattan and Brooklyn on the Q train one evening, I spotted these two. They didn't know each other but I thought they made intriguing subway seat mates. Just another night on the New York City subway.
Every time I'm in NYC someone on my trip wants to walk across the Brooklyn Bridge. I submit to this walk, but I insist that we walk back on the Manhattan Bridge. In my opinion the Manhattan Bridge is the "people's bridge" with all its graffiti and uncrowded paths—one for bikers and another for pedestrians.
As you leave Brooklyn far behind the Hudson River and approach Manhattan, there is usually a baseball or softball game being played in the field below.
After all that walking (just under 4 miles) to and from Brooklyn, dropping in to one of Chinatown's food shops for a quick pork bun or custard tart is my reward.
