Burnie Makers' WorkshopBurnie is a timber town, but this striking glass and steel structure fits just right against the sea and sky, and won an architecture award soon after opening. The Makers’ Workshop combines visitor centre and museum with an arts space and craft market. Nodding to local woodchip and pulp industries, the focus is on paper-making and printing, but a wide range of crafts are displayed alongside wares from local food and drink producers. A café serves excellent coffee and cakes, and a fine choice of light meals and local wines, making this a great spot for a lazy brunch overlooking the beach.
