A snapshot of the 1870's
Virginia City really only existed in its heyday for maybe ten years. Before that, nothing was here, and since then, it's mainly been a tourist attraction, if anything. Despite its brief moment of life, though, it is still very much worth visiting both for its incredible location on the edge of a mountain at 6,000 feet elevation, and for the number of historic buildings still remaining, many of which are beautiful Victorians from when the city was one of the richest cities in the West.
