An occupied butchers' hall
Macao is representative of Italy's unique mix of strong social cohesion, decaying traditional institutions, and ad-hoc problem-solving. The social organization occupied this abandoned butchers' hall in the eastern part of Milan more than one year ago, and since then has developed a diverse events calendar with political debates, exhibitions, fairs, and concerts, all free or with a very low entry fee. It probably has the cheapest bar in Milan, as well, though you shouldn't expect anything too gourmet...
