Måbødalen Valley

Måbødalen, Eidfjord Municipality, Norway

This scenic, six-kilometer-long (four-mile-long) valley begins in Eidfjord and stretches to the western side of the Hardangervidda plateau. The valley is home to one of the most famous waterfalls in Norway, the 182-meter-tall (597-foot-tall) Vøringfossen. The first road through the Måbødalen Valley was completed in 1928 with three tunnels, three bridges, and oodles of hairpin turns. The road is widely used by hikers and cyclists today and was the first road connecting eastern and western Norway when it was completed.
