Skip the terra cotta warrior knock-offs and take home something truly unique that not only embodies a traditional Chinese art form, but adds a noteworthy color pop to your sofa: a Nankeen pillow case.
LuRu Home is the brainchild of Claire Russo and Liza Serratore who, upon arrival in Shanghai, fell in love with Nankeen fabrics and decided they needed to find a way to patronize the artisans who practice this craft and share their products with the wider world. Nankeen dyeing dates back some 3,000 years in China and is still practiced by hand using natural, chemical-free dyestuffs and materials. Sewn into home textiles at a responsible manufacturing workshop in China, LuRu Home offers a collection of gorgeously designed, indigo-hued table linens, pillow cases and more.
