History and Beauty in Baton Rouge
Being situated within walking distance of Baton Rouge's vibrant downtown, this castle-like structure was once the political heart of the state of Louisiana. Now visitors can enjoy tours and an informational stroll through the hallowed halls of this architectural gem. The museum inside reveals all manner of historical treasures about the state's political past, including -- of course! -- former Gov. Huey Long. Not to be missed is the multimedia presentation housed here, called "Ghost of the Castle," which brings to life the history of the Old State Capitol from construction to devastating fire to disrepair to restoration. It's a fun and immersive screening perfect for all ages.
