Munich’s Market Hotel
The almost three-year-old Louis Hotel has cornered the market on location. It’s right on the edge of the lively and picturesque Viktualienmarkt, where residents have been buying their apples and local cheeses and sausages for more than two centuries. And when it comes to a sense of German Gemütlichkeit, the hotel has that sorted as well. Interiors feel like a modern alpine villa, with oiled wooden floors, a big fireplace in the lobby and big, fluffy duvets in the 72 chic bedrooms.

Viktualienmarkt 6; 011 49 89411 190 8200; www.louis-hotel.com. Rooms start at 195 euros.
