Lotus Lake
Lotus Lake

This man-made lake (called Lianchihtan in Chinese) was opened in 1951 and lies on the northern side of the city. Named after the lotus plants that thrive on the lake, it is mostly popular for the various temples, pagodas and pavilions along its shoreline, buildings that make a stroll around the lake scenic and historically interesting. The seven-story Dragon and Tiger pagodas, built in 1976, are a must-see: Entering the pagodas via the Dragon’s mouth and emerging from the Tiger’s mouth is said to bring good luck.
