Enter the dragon's mouth and exit the tiger for good luck and prosperity at Lotus Lake in Kaohsiung. These colorful Chinese temples were built in 1960 as an extension to Ciji Temple on the opposite side of the street.
Lotus Lake is probably the most charming attraction in Kaohsiung. There are plenty of temples to see in Taiwan, but the craziest temples I've seen are clustered around this manmade lake located just a short walk away from Zuoying HSR/MRT Station R16.
The lake takes its name from the layers of lotus blossoms that cover the water in late spring and summer. It's also home to one of the most visited temples in Taiwan. Ciji Temple is the largest Confucious Temple in Taiwan, and the shoreline surrounding this temple is liberally studded with many strange looking temples and pagodas.
