Boutique property L'otel may not have a Mexican-sounding name, but the exterior aesthetic—a manse covered in vines—is absolutely in keeping with the colonial style of San Miguel de Allende. The same can be said for the interior, which blends the kinds of eclectic influences for which San Miguel is known, thanks to its diverse population of Mexicans and expats from all over the world. Each of L'otel's four rooms has its own savvy design scheme featuring vivid colors and patterns. Bold statement pieces include locally made paintings, oversized decorative pillows, gilt picture frames, and dramatic headboards, as well as luxury touches like Italian linens, silk coverlets, and goose-down duvets. For tech amenities, there's free Wi-Fi, and the hotel has a film and music library from which guests can borrow titles to play on the flat-screen TVs in their rooms. The rooftop terrace is almost unbearably, cinematically romantic, giving guests an incredible view of the colonial heart of San Miguel de Allende. This is also where guests will find a climate-controlled plunge pool.
