Lord Stanley is the restaurant love child of married chefs Rupert and Carrie Blease. The pair took their backgrounds in fine dining and created a relaxed yet still sophisticated dining experience on Polk Street in Russian Hill. We especially love the restaurant's minimalist décor, sort of similar to an art gallery backdrop, that doesn't distract patrons from the real reason they are visiting: the food. But the walls of windows and slate, white accents and polished wood tables present a wonderful atmosphere to dine in that is airy, bright and spread over two levels.
Presentation is a major focus at Lord Stanley's, and every dish comes out looking Instagram worthy. The California style menu is influenced by the usual Asian and European elements with special attention paid to dishes that reflect the couple's British background. Seasonal and local products are also featured heavily, and the duo has created some unique dishes like English peas with fresh curds, carrot and dill or lemon and dill pickled shellfish. A carefully curated wine, cocktail and craft beer list complete the experience. Lord Stanley is one of the hottest eating experiences in San Francisco right now, so reserve in advance.
