Cafe Mariposa | Authentic, clean and wholesome food in the Lopinot ValleyFrom the road the only sign that confirmed we were at the right spot was a mossy green sign reading Cafe Mariposa. The bed and breakfast unsuspecting from the main road may make any visitor reconsider venturing in further as it is easily mistaken for a wrong address. The unfinished walls, flooring and ceiling, increased my anticipation as we were lead to the dining area of the balcony. I frequented a place like this, almost daily for many many years of my life...and also for the same reason some excellent home cooked grub.
Cafe Mariposa style as we later learned is referred to as Guerrero styled cuisine, so referred to by Marcia Guerrero. Marcia is one of the cooks at Cafe Mariposa, she chatted with us for near an hour after learning of our feedback when settling the bill...
Their cooking style lightly salted, unprocessed foods with everything prepared inhouse from the chutney, to the Award Winning Cocoa ice- cream that was crafted with out dairy products, the avocado ice-cream that was based with all natural ingredients. Learning too that almost every dish has a dash or two or three of alcohol to add the little Guerrero touch, was extremely enlightening, more so for those whose lifestyle refrains from use of alcohol.
Excellent, wholesome, minimally processed food is around us everywhere, change your perception of what eating should be and you'll experience and feel a difference in life.
