Follow the Trail of a Texas Treasure
The Guadalupe River that runs through the Texas Hill Country is a destination for Texans, and visitors from elsewhere, to raft, canoe, fly fish, and float. Much of the river is shaded by overhanging branches of pecan and cypress trees, and because of its limestone banks, the Guadalupe has a beautiful greenish-blue hue on a sunny day. River Road is a 10.6 mile scenic drive between Loop 337 in New Braunfels and Canyon Lake Dam, which crosses the Guadalupe River four times. Take it slow down River Road, stop off for lunch and then stay a few nights at a cabin along the Guadalupe to truly unplug.
