Longji Rice Terrace Scenic Spot (Northeast Gate)

Jinkeng Rice Terraces
The Longji ("Dragon's Backbone") Rice Terraces in Longsheng, Guangxi province, China are spectacular throughout all four seasons (pictured here in early October). While most tourists go for the sites at Ping'An, a better option would be to ride higher up the mountain to a site called "Jinkeng" nearby "Dazhai" villages. Here, you can stay in overnight lodging run by minority peoples (pick your own veggies for dinner!) and wake up early to watch the sunrise and hike five hours to Ping'An to catch the 2 PM bus back to Guilin.
