The recently redeveloped West Bund area is home to the architecturally stunning Long Museum, designed by Atelier Deshaus. Minimal and industrial in style, the building houses the private art collection of billionnaires Liu Yiqian and Wang Wei.

Most of the pieces here are of the Chinese contemporary sort, though there are also historical pieces on display. A visit to the museum makes for a great afternoon - just head out to the new promenade to enjoy some sunshine along the Huangpu River, or take a break at the nearby restaurants. If by then you are still looking to take in more art, you can head to the Long Museum's sister museum in Pudong.
