London’s Main Event
If you didn’t know, Texas has its own Paris and London—as well as a plethora of tiny towns with curious little names like “Dime Box.” London, Texas is the home to the London Dance Hall, a dance hall and saloon with pool tables, a juke box and a spacious stage and dance floor for live music and boot scootin’. Pickup trucks line the street leading up to the Dance Hall, which is marked by a massive Texas pecan tree out front. With a booming population of less than 200 residents, roughly half of the size that London was back in 1930 before the Great Depression, the town may be small but the party is large at the London Dance Hall, which draws visitors from far beyond the town limits.
