4 Paws Up: Fantastic Modern Dog-Friendly Boutique in Coal Harbour
If you're traveling with a dog in Vancouver, the Loden is where to stay. I visited recently with my pup Bobbi and we couldn't have been happier with our choice. First the location is paradise for dogs, as it's an easy stroll to leafy Stanley Park, where well-behaved pups can walk with their humans off leash, and which is home to a dog beach, as well as plenty of green around Coal Harbour, just two blocks away. And best of all, the Loden runs a free car service within a certain radius that Bobbi was all too happy to book for a trip to English Harbour, which is home to the city's best dog beach, and also walking distance from the property.
Beyond the locale, the interior is also paradise for pups and Bobs was greeted with a bed, special bowls and even a copy of Modern Dog magazine that she devoured while I attended the Vancouver Wine Festival for work. From a human perspective, this is a stylish boutique hotel that opened less than a decade ago and features posh custom-designed interiors that feel cosmo sleek without sacrificing comfort. I loved the curvaceous design of the building, so it appeared my window was bending outward towards an only partially obscured view of Coal Harbour, and the beds and linens were also some of the softest and most comfortable I've slept on in ages, and I've spent a lot of time in luxury hotels in the past year. Bathrooms were huge, with separate toilet and shower areas as well as Molten Brown amenities on the marble countertops.
The staff here goes out of their way to please and cater to both guests, and their canine companions whims, and dogs are not discriminated for size or breed. The onsite Parisian-style Tableau Bar Bistro is a fantastic spot for a drink or a meal, and they also cook the delicious sustenance provided by room service.
