The “local” in Local Loaf, one of the newest additions to 7th Street Market, is not just a ploy to jump on the farm-to-plate bandwagon. These guys mean what they say. Pretty much everything on the menu is locally sourced.
I had the pleasure of spending some time with Adam Spears today, the proprietor and head chef of Local Loaf. Adam is passionate, creative, and energetic.
For breakfast, I would have been remiss to pass up Adam’s signature dish, Chicken & The Egg. It truly doesn’t get much better than this. Boneless chicken breast, southern butter biscuit, housemade Cheerwine chipotle honey glaze, aged white cheddar, soft poached egg, and Swiss chard micro greens, provided courtesy of Lucky Leaf Gardens in Harrisburg, NC. The chicken was succulent, the biscuit was golden brown with the right amount of moist, the egg was cooked perfectly (not too done, not too runny), and the honey glaze was a tremendous mix of sweet and heat. I will be getting this again.
