The half day we spent at Living Land Farm was one of the most fun and educational experiences we had while in Luang Prabang. Our host, who grew up in a Hmong mountain village and now runs this working farm/agritourism business, was engaging, funny, and enthusiastic as he took us through all 12 of the traditional steps for farming rice. This is a fully interactive experience, and guests can try their hand at each activity -- including plowing the earth behind Suki, one of the farm's beloved water buffalo. There is much to admire about Living Land's dedication to the local community and environment, and this is a can't-miss experience in laidback Luang Prabang. Living Land also has a traditional homestay available for those who may want to spend the night.
