Our budget cruise had a full day stop on Rhodes Island. The island is certainly a favourite of mine. The old city is beautiful, but with a whole day, a trip to Lindos is a highlight. The taxi fare is astronomical, so we asked around a little and found the public bus stop. The bus was a unique insight into the life of those living on Rhodes, and though it is a long hour and a half ride, I would recommend it. Lindos is a traditional Mediterranean town built down the side of a hill on the seaside. The top of the hill is the beautiful Acropolis of Lindos, towering above the ocean. To get up there, we paid the 5 euro for the donkey ride, and took a stroll along a side path to get a different view on the way down. The visit was extremely memorable. The Acropolis of Lindos, Rhodes
If you have time on Rhodes, Lindos deserves at least a visit. The view from the Acropolis is stunning, and the town is beautiful. The whole area is surrounded by the Mediterranean, with beaches all around. The food in town is fantastic as well!
Chill out in Lindos Rhodes
Hot summer day, tourists filled the small alleys on their way to the Acropolis, donkeys everywhere, not so good smell, still it is one of the beautiful and amazing places... Great view, vibrant as if someone drew everything, painted the sea in blue and created this amazing pearl....we were speachless!..
