if you go on a weekday when the beach first opens to the public in the spring, the parking lots are empty, the volleyball nets are occupied by uniformed middle-school students, and there are only a few residents and tourists scattered about.
it's an easy bus ride from Naha.
the water is warm enough for a dip. some residents do laps.
and even though the air base is nearby, despite the constant roar of jets, there is something eerily serene about this place.
