Corsican Sunset that Debussy would have composed forThe calanques in Piana, Corsica, are stunning in their beauty and grandeur. Photogenic and breathtaking at any time of day, this Debussy-esque sunset made me stop my car, climb some rocks and freeze un moment in time.
This was my second time visiting Piana, and I was trying to reach to my next Corsican destination before dark, as the windy, narrow, scary roads after dark are a bit hair raising, even for a seasoned driver like myself.
There are hikes of all levels starting in Piana, as well as a multitude of cafes and restaurants with views.
I'd recommend staying in Gite Giargalo. Not the fanciest but great value and dinner at a community table. Excellent views!
Last year my friend Ryan and I did two hikes; one was a six hour hike up Capu d'Orto. You can buy hiking maps in the Piana tourist office for 1 euro.
J'aime la Corse!
