We were on a trip through the perched villages of Luberon. On the approach to one of these ancient hillside villages, Les Baux, we came across what looked like a limestone quarry made up into a museum.
Upon entry we were met with the most astonishing display of impressionist paintings projected onto the limestone walls!
Why was this experience surreal? Les Baux is one of the few villages that has been continuously inhabited by humans since around 6000 CE. Just outside this village a really high tech 21st century show has been created honoring the greatest artists of the 19th century.
The gallery, Carrieres du Lumieres, is hosting this display until 5th Jan 2014.
