Statue of Admiral Votsi with the White TowerI love this shot.
All along the coast of Thessaloniki you'll find a pedestrian-friendly waterway divided by a street filled with constant traffic in and out of the city.
The White Tower was once the center of a Byzantine fortification that protected the coast for their empire. Over time and the changing of rulers, the walls around the tower were brought down, but the tower remained as a landmark for Thessaloniki. Today they have a museum of Thessaloniki built inside.
Nikolaos Votsis was a Greek naval officer who distinguished himself during the Balkan Wars and rose to the rank of Rear Admiral.
