Le Reflet de l'Ile
Set on a quiet residential street on Marie-Galante island, stepping into the small, cozy Reflet de L’Ile–which translates into “island reflections”–is like walking into a Guadeloupean family home, where fresh cooked creole meals take time to ready but come out into the casual dining room filling the air with aroma, from seafood to meats, and baked vegetables like the gratin de christophine. The chalkboard menu usually lists Guadeloupean specialties: a conch-filled shell, a chicken fricassee, grilled fish, and desserts like banana flambé. For the presentation and taste, this restaurant is a bargain. Try the restaurant’s own fruit rhum mixes–pick one from the various glass pots lined up on the bar counter.
