Immersing in Josephine Baker's life while visiting Chateau de MilandesDominating the left bank of the Dordogne, the Chateau de Milandes was built in 1489 by the lords of Caumont, but its history is strongly linked to the amazing and unusual life of Joséphine Baker who rented it from 1937 and then bought it ten years later with her new husband. The visit will take the visitor through 15 rooms: from the large salon, to the Art Deco bathrooms through the rooms, the kitchen, the dining room and the amazing room with a 15th century framework where the castle is pays tribute to Joséphine Baker’s commitment during the Second World War.
We loved it because: the park surrounding the Chateau (restored in 2016) is the perfect place to chill our for a few hours after some cultural visits.
