Celebrated chef Raymond Blanc’s Le Manoir aux Quat'Saisons is the grandest, oldest house in a small, secluded Oxfordshire village. It’s straight-up old-fashioned luxury: the service is impeccable, the food is – of course – magnificent, and the 32 rooms are each individually designed. The kitchens house an acclaimed cooking school, and the extensive, impressive walled garden is put to work providing vegetables and herbs to be served up in the Michelin-starred restaurant – there’s a tranquil Japanese garden, a large pond ringed by tumble-down historic stone walls, and sculptures throughout, too.
The acclaimed cooking school is booked up well in advance, so plan your culinary classes as soon as possible.
