Despite it's name we found Iceland to have very temperate, pleasant weather. The only taste we got of winter was on a snowmobiling expedition to Langjökull Glacier in Iceland's interior. It dawned upon us on our ride out how remote and isolated we were. The last half hour of our ride was on dirt roads (if you could call them that) and we saw no other traffic. We got on our snowmobiles at about ten in the morning and proceeded to climb the glacier. It was a beautiful sunny day and I took this shot when we stopped for a break on what seemed like the top of the world.
*Our snowmobile experience was included in Arctic Adventures Iceland Elements tour which included white water rafting the Hvita River in the afternoon.
