This Golden Donkey is a golden find. Under twenty Euros will buy a full meal—antipasti, primi, secondi, contorni, as well as wine and water. The menu changes daily, reflecting what is in season. I went in early spring, when I enjoyed the pictured bread with excellent lemon-infused, dreamy ricotta. It was insanely good. This was followed by a broccoli soup that I was certain my children would reject, but everyone finished every last, delicious spoonful. Then came a plate of orzo (the grain, not the pasta) with radicchio and citron, followed by meatballs with flavorful greens.
The entire meal was exceptional, thoughtful, and so budget conscious, you could follow it with a post-prandial, extra-large gelato—if you had room.
