We thought it might be fun to cross-country ski in the Adirondacks as a way of experiencing the mountains of upstate New York. We were blown away by this family ski resort.
A foot of overnight snow made for near perfect conditions. Easy trails led us to a lake and a reindeer, and black diamond trail challenged us in the woods. Classic skiing or skate skiing.
The staff was friendly and we ran into Squaw Valley Olympian skier Olavi Hirvonen who owns the place doing his afternoon chores. Finnish music filled the air outside the rental office and we enjoyed the cat who looked just like ours.
You can stay in little cabins and they accommodate snowshoers, tubing, ice-skating and more. Met people who ski there often. Great place.
