Châu Khê, Mang Yang, Gia Lai, Vietnam
Fellow TravelerMy wife was afraid to fly on our first trip to Vietnam back in 1994 so we booked the train from Nha Tranh to Hue then on to Hanoi.
We thought we were getting a private compartment but there was no such thing. We shared with this woman and her son. He was a journalist and had some basic English.
We had zero Vietnamese at this point.
What started out as a bit daunting turned out to be a wonderful experience as the woman shared fruit and tea with us and pointed out sights though we could not understand her.
We wound up having a lovely trip and memories that would last forever.
