Taking a walk in EthiopiaOne of the most memorable things I did in Ethiopia was take a 4-day, easy trek with TESFA (Tourism in Ethiopia for Sustainable Future Alternatives) through the rural highlands. The trek was supported by guides and donkeys carrying my gear so I only needed to carry my needs for each day. Meals were prepared by local community members and at night, I slept comfortably in tukuls (traditional circular homes). The walks themselves passed through an agrarian landscape filled with grain fields, farms, meadows and mountain escarpments. Truly some of the most beautiful scenery I have ever seen! But the shepherds, farmers, women doing chores and playful children I met along the way are what I'll remember most.
