'This will change your life.'said owner Pete as he poured my glass of Pinot Noir, one of Central Otago's top exports. A little like the experience of dining at White House, one of the area'smost loved eateries. Housed in a 1930s Art Deco building, with books scattered all over, bills tucked in old pomodoro paste tins, chalked up menus and a wine list to rival any Michelin starred spot (Pete is a self confessed wine 'expert') dining here is all about eating seriously good food in a scatty and homely environment. Locally sourced is not a marketing buzzword here, it's a natural way of shopping and cooking - my dinner of fresh mackeral was adorned with prunes from the Martin Orchard plum trees. The arty and long time residents love it, the authenticity and ambience making it a place to relax with a small group and enjoy, well, a bloody good dinner and bottle of wine.
