Like pine trees, Stand Up Paddleboarding (SUP) is everywhere in Lake Tahoe. But most beaches, from the family-friendly King's Beach to the quieter, more well-manicured Commons Beach in Tahoe City, are just too crowded for SUP and you'll fight for privacy, even on a vast lake like Tahoe.
If you want some truly quiet wake-less waters there to practice your SUP skills, head on over to the Tahoe City Fanny Bridge and veer towards the seaweed-covered inlet right behind the dam. There's a kayak/SUP rental right that will help you get the right gear you need.
This inlet is near the Gatekeeper's Museum and is a little oasis all to itself, and allows you the flexibility to head out into the open lake once you've mastered the basics. You'll appreciate it if you are relatively new to the sport.
